Chicago Outpost!

Yes! It has launched...
Chicago Outpost began two days after my return from North Carolina, which meant we had to hit the ground running--and we haven't really stopped running yet!
(My apologies to those at KEY Institute who haven't seen me online quite as often. This is the reason!)
The Lord has sent us eight great students with a longing to serve God, and a willingness to sacrifice one summer of their life to training and frontline ministry. Hope to introduce each of these pioneers more fully in future posts, but for now--here is the team:
So far we have been doing intense classroom instruction every morning on practical Christianity, evangelism, disciple-making, church mobilization, Bible work, Care Groups and more. We have had several guest instructors already (Thank you Bill Hartsook, Janelle Cuthbert and Ed Gutierrez) and we are looking forward to several additional instructors in the weeks to come (Ron Clark, Don Miller, Delmar Austin, and Johnny Wong). So far we have been meeting for almost three weeks, and we have had some rich blessings!
We've also been busy doing lot's of field work. Students have been out knocking on doors, passing out literature, doing telephone surveys and more. We've spent a lot of time focusing on the importance of visitation, connecting with people, and plugging them into Care Groups. Chicago Outpost is different from other evangelism schools in that our emphasis is not only giving Bible studies to people in the community, but even more on how to get involved with local church leadership, mobilize members for ministry, and work through the power of relationships and community. We can already see the impact such a strategy is having on our church. And it is thrilling!
Please continue to keep these young people in your prayers, that God would give each one a direct encounter with Himself as they progress through Chicago Outpost. And that many lives might be touched through their witness in the years to come, as a result of their training in the summer of 2012!
I will be praying for Chicago Outpost and it's first students. God bless!
The LORD seems to start small and then grow the work himself. A great deal can be done with eight people...a small spark can start a forest fire...Praise the Lord for these willing hearts to do what I would love to be a part of! :-)
