Cognitive Genesis

Cognitive Genesis is a 4 year study of 30,000 students grades 3-9 and 11, enrolled in Adventist schools across North America. This rigorous research validates what parents, teachers, and students involved in Adventist education have known for years--that overall, Adventist school students perform better than the national average. And the longer children attend Adventist schools, the higher their average achievement.

50th Percentile--Average achievement of an 8th grader just starting at an Adventist school.

57th Percentile--Average achievement of an 8th grader after just 1-2 years at an Adventist school.

64th Percentile--Average achievement of an 8th grader after 3-6 years at an Adventist school.

73rd Percentile--Average achievement of an 8th grader after all 7 previous years at an Adventist school.

Adventist education proves itself in any given year, but it also yields academic diidends that accumulate over time. That is, the longer children attend Adventist schools, the higher their average achievement. For lack of a better term, researchers have simply called it "the Adventist school effect".
